What Can I Expect On MY First Visit?

Oriental Medicine has a very individualistic, complex approach to your health.

We will start with your health history and lifestyle. I will ask quite a few questions, sometimes starting with your birth. I will want you to talk openly and honestly with you. You will not be complaining, but helping me to help you. Oriental Medicine takes care of the whole person, not just an organ, limb, or symptom.

I will then look at your skin color, your tongue, and skin texture. I will listen to the sound of your voice and breathing. I will notice how you walk, sit, and stand up. I will take your pulse (ALL 12 of them on your wrist).

When I make my determination and select my treatment plan, we will start the healing process.

I will select the places to insert the needles (usually on the hands and feet, legs and arms). Most of the time the acupoints are opposite from the location of your problem. You will usually be lying down for about 20 minutes. It depends on what we are trying to accomplish in this visit.

With each visit we will review my findings and diagnosis. I will explain my treatment plan and what I expect from you. We are a team. Our goal is to help you achieve health and stay that way. Oriental Medicine can help physical as well as emotional problems.
