In 2015, we are not seeing the pollen that we usually see this time of year. Autumn has been late this year; maybe because of all the rain, who knows? (I can still work out in my pool and that’s not usual either!) Patients are complaining of sinus pressure and stuffy noses one week, and runny noses with headaches this past week. This is right on schedule, according to the ancient Asians.
We didn’t have our usual “late summer colds” after the kids went back to school this year (it’s called “Wind Cold” in Chinese). What’s strange about these colds is they have associated with them sore throats and mild fevers. These symptoms started in early August this year, even before school did, and that’s unusual. In Oriental Medicine we call this Wind Heat. So I hope we don’t have a bad autumn season.
I believe the best solution is Acupuncture (Acupuncture has been around for thousands of years. There are documented protocols for treating sinus conditions and colds.but the suggestions below also help with the symptoms that come with autumn/winter).
If you are suffering from seasonal allergies, here are some additional simple suggestions to help you manage your way through the “hay fever/allergy season”:
- Don’t wear the clothes in the house that you worked in the yard wearing. After working in the yard take your clothes off in the garage. Then take a shower and wash your hair. Don’t sleep on a pillowcase with hair that has pollen in it.
- Wash your hands, wash your hands and wash your hands!
- Use a saline spray to flush out sinuses or a netti pot with saline and water. Dr. Oz said also recommends putting a pinch of baking soda in it. (By the way, he also said Acupuncture was “THE BEST OF THE BEST” for pain relief!)
- Drinking hot tea with honey (if you can tolerate honey); any tea would do.
- Slice a lemon and put salt on it (if you can tolerate salt), and eat it quickly. The salt dissolves phlegm and lemons are astringent according to Oriental Medicine.
- Drink a cup of hot water with lemon.
- Place a really warm wet washcloth over your face and breathe in and out.
- Cook asparagus (or use canned) and blend it up. You may add a little water or butter if needed. It has to be blended and cooked to mush. You will be surprised how much better you will feel.
- Vitamin A, C and D are especially helpful. In our clinic, have many great Homeopathic Medicine formulas at our clinic. These are very safe, very effective, and inexpensive. (You can call (386-734-4126) or e-mail me if you can’t get into the clinic and we will put together a prescription for you.)
- Rub your face gently but firmly around the sides of your nose, forehead, top of your head and temples. A “BIG” Acupuncture point is between the thumb and first finger in the “web.”
- Eat more vegetables and a lot less sugar and dairy. Seven servings of vegetables a day is ideal. Lettuce, corn and French fries don’t count. And, of course NO GRAINS!
- In Oriental Medicine, the following foods are recommended for allergies – green onions, apples, strawberries, radishes, star fruit, and carrots. They help dissolve phlegm and thin mucus. Eating hot peppers and horseradish will open up your sinus also.
- Exercise! Exercise! Exercise! Pick something you like to do – dance, walk (fast), or jog in a heated swimming pool. It keeps your Qi flowing – one of the reasons you get headaches and facial pain is stagnated Qi.
If you have allergies and have not tried AcuSET the treatment protocol I developed – please ask us about it (read my personal testimonial here) or read more about it on our website. Also check out the video on the “Welcome Page” – “Take a Tour” here.
If you did the protocol above and still have problems, please CALL US ASAP at 386-734-4126. We want everybody feeling great. Last summer I ordered 500 new vials to treat you for your allergies, including new ones. Be sure you’re an AcuSET patient. That’s where we start!
And, please – do yourself a BIG favor – call for your seasonal Acupuncture treatment. Acupuncture four times a year will help keep you healthy.
Fondly, Dr. Rusty
A note from Dr. Rusty:
“I have been in practice 16 ½ years now. I have treated more than 7,000 patients. This amazes me more every year. Acupuncture has been accepted beyond my wildest dreams. Just when I think I can’t be even more surprised – I AM!
“I purchased the computerized diagnostic equipment 17 yrs. ago this month. I started classes in New York and San Francisco. This is the test I use for the AcuSET treatments – to identify sensitivities. I had quite a few allergies myself, and they were pretty bad. I always say I was one of my worst patients. I completed the treatments in three months back then. I re-tested and was all cleared.
“Recently, I retested myself (as I do every few years) and am still cleared of ANY sensitivities. So when someone asks, “How long does this last?” I can honestly say – at least 17 years. We still have an 85-percent success rate. If you know someone that has symptoms related to allergies and sensitivities please tell them about this procedure. I have not been sick or not able to eat in restaurants or worry about smoke, perfumes, soaps or pollens putting me to bed in 17 YEARS!”
The ending of 2014 did not go well for me. My entire body was in constant pain, I had carpel tunnel in my left hand. (And, I should mention that at the age of 3 , I was diagnosed with polio in my left leg that left me with a limp and a drop foot.)
Not long ago, my doctor diagnosed me with a pinched nerve in that leg, and suggested an MRI. The MRI showed severe carpel tunnel and arthritis throughout my entire body. I corrected the pinched nerve with stretch exercises, and was given prescriptions for a muscle relaxer and a pain pill but, there was still the matter of severe pain in my body. About seven years ago I injured my back and had to use a cane to get around. After my back healed, it was easier for me to continue using the cane. The pinched nerve in my leg forced me to use a walker and the dread of a wheelchair in my future was depressing. For at least six months, I could only shuffle my feet and trying to find a comfortable position in a chair or bed resulted in pain.
My husband and I were active seniors (I am 83 years old), and suddenly found ourselves house-bound most of the time. One day, my daughter mentioned a co-worker made an appointment with an acupuncture physician and had excellent results. Having nothing to lose, I called Dr. Debra Gaffney’s office. After the first treatment, I was told I was fixable, which was music to my ears.
I recently had my 10th treatment, then every three months I will go back for one treatment to keep things working.
Today, I no longer need a walker, my fingers are flexible and, thanks to Dr. Gaffney, I am no longer on prescribed medications. Without her treatments, I would still be housebound and living on painkillers. My husband, who suffers from vertigo and a cough due to acid reflux , saw my results and is now a patient, too.
We are both grateful for the TLC Dr. Gaffney gives us, and also for her wonderful staff who are always pleasant and willing to give a helping hand.
I have known these wonderful people for many years. Dr. John Gaffney treated me and my husband, and now Dr. Rusty is treating me for my autoimmune disease. I never thought I would be in this place in my life, but I’m so very thankful and blessed in having Dr. Rusty treating me. I thank them so very much. – D.
Dr. Rusty, I just wanted to drop a small note to let you know how great I feel. I will be in this week and I will be continue at a minimum once a week but my goal is twice a week. My back pain is 95% better. I feel better…I act better….OMG….Thank you. I caught a bug/cold on Friday and by Sunday it was gone! I really do feel that it was your doing because I was so down and weak from the pain, I know I would not have been able to fight the cold off. So thank you again!
My 30-year-old daughter was experiencing bipolar disorder, ADD, anxiety and extreme angry outbursts. Acupuncture was a last resort for her. Conventional medications and treatments hadn’t worked thus far, and the situation continued to worsen. We saw results immediately from acupuncture; (she had) less anxiety. My daughter was calm in conversation, and had the ability to cope with small life instances.
(Before treatment), there were many days my daughter’s husband and I thought we should have her committed to a mental institution, but we knew it would result in more and more pills. After only three treatments, life is returning to normal. We had some minor setbacks, but with constant support from Dr. Rusty and the staff, at least we finally see the light at the end of the tunnel, and my daughter is drug free! It’s a blessing to her and her family.
Two years ago, for months, I was plagued with a digestive/elimination problem that my gastroenterologists could not treat. He told me write to down everything I ate, figure out what foods caused the problem, and simply NOT eat them anymore. Meanwhile, I’d heard about Debra Gaffney from several individuals including a chiropractor and a neighbor. My neighbor claimed Debra Gaffney had cured her of her asthma. “HUH? How could that be? How could acupuncture cure anyone of asthma?” was my reaction.
I’m writing this testimonial for the wonderful care I’ve been given by my Acupuncture Physician, Dr. Debra Gaffney.
I have suffered with back and neck pain for several years. I spend a lot of time on the road and in my automobile inspecting job sites and on-going work as Project Manager for a company based here in Central Florida. I average about 150 miles per day in my automobile. I’m sure the travel, sitting, and type of daily activities I do has contributed to my problem.
There are no words that can adequately express how grateful I am to Debra Pardee Gaffney, well known as Rusty. She worked with me to regain my life. I have had the very painful, energy draining and sleep depriving condition called fibromyalgia for over 20 years. For the last 10 years I tried three traditional medications for some type of relief. All three of these medicines had side effects that were intolerable. Ultimately they caused more problems than I had originally started with. By the time I found Rusty, I was also having bronchial and sinus problems which were side effects from my fibromyalgia medication. I was a mess!
Dear Dr. Debra Gaffney,
I told you a while ago I would write you at some time about my wheat allergy. Well the time has come when I have done enough testing and time enough has lapsed so I feel comfortable about tell all! I told you to what extent my old body had become old reacting to just a little wheat. I mean just a crumb. I could have a crouton fall into my salad, I could pick it out and a crumb (unseen by me) would be left on my plate. Within one hour my body would be in bed. I would be suffering a lot of symptoms as though I was coming down with a strong case of the flu. I would be belching and have indigestion (which I thought was just a normal “fish stomach”) It was not a pretty picture. If you are eating while reading this you may want to stop reading until a more convenient time.
Dear Debra Gaffney,
When I walked into your office that day, I did not know if I would live or die. I was so weak my husband had to help me walk. I had been praying to let me find help or let me die quickly. A friend told me about you and from the day I talked to you I had hope.
I had an infection in the colon and the antibiotic they gave me almost killed me. I could eat very little because of the pain in the colon. With the treatments little by little my body improved. I am still improving and I am grateful for all the help I have received.
Thank You for all your help and care, L.K.
Dr. Rusty Gaffney,
You have truly changed my life, and I cannot begin to thank you and your AMAZING staff enough for that! For the first time EVER I am able to go out to eat without interrogating the waiter about every ingredient used in what I am ordering… which I still didn’t believe half the time. I don’t have to spend hours at the grocery store reading every ingredient on every package of food I buy. It is truly as though I have been set free! Most importantly, I have an overall sense of peace that I have never known before. It is amazing how things you didn’t even know were bothering you can have such a huge impact on your quality of life. I am so glad that my mother found you! Thank you Rusty, from the bottom of my heart! I know you say you are just God’s instrument, but I am sure thankful for you! And for the sake of those going through the process …testimonials were such a wonderful comfort for me. Because of this, I recorded my testimonial slowly, and below is what the process was like…
To all who may read this, I have been plagued with allergies for as long as I can remember. I had been thru the allergy shots for at least ten years when I was young and into my adult years. As I got older I acquired more allergies. An allergy is your body’s way of telling you it’s on overload. I have been thru the runny eyes and nose, my face itching all over. I know some of you out there know what I am talking about. My body would rash in various spots and I would use the creams and take the medicine to make it stop, but it was only a short reprieve. Then in my thirties my hands started breaking out in rashes and splitting open. I would put cream on them and keep going. In my forties I drove semi and got out of the kitchen. My hands got a little better. In my fifties my hands got worse and my finger nails peeled off my fingers. They would bubble with water blisters under them and lift the nail right off the nail bed. I went to a dermatologist and they gave me shots in my cuticles, talk about Chinese torture. I went once a week for three weeks. It didn’t work well enough so I went thru it twice. My finger nails came back.
This is a picture of my hands then.
As you can see, they still have some rash and are a little swollen. That lasted for a few years and then it started all over again. So I just lived with it.
Six years ago I was fairly incapacitated by COPD. I coughed a lot, making any exercise uncomfortable. I never missed using my prescribed inhalers four times a day. Rusty suggested I try acupuncture and, though I didn’t think it would help, I figured it couldn’t hurt. I started going to her once a week, then every two weeks and after several years graduated to once a month. During this time, several things happened. My cough became rare instead of ever-present. My endurance in walking became so much better that I stopped using the handicap tag my Doctor had prescribed, realizing others needed the spaces more than I did. Since I often don’t feel the need and forget, I use my inhalers less often.
In this time I have not changed my lifestyle in any way I can think. My diet is the same and my exercise is the same. In the absence of any other change, I think the improvement in my well-being must be due to the acupuncture.
M.P.S., May 13, 2009
On 19 February, 2008, I was stopped at a traffic light at Granada and Clyde Morris in Ormond Beach, Florida. My car was “rear-ended” by a vehicle following me. The force of the collision thrust my car into the intersection. I remember hearing the crash and then finding my car in the intersection. I can only assume that I lost consciousness for a few seconds because I have no recollection of the move into the intersection. What follows is my “stream-of-consciousness” reconstruction of events in the best manner that my faulty octogenarian’s memory and checking my calendar and date book allows.
When I attempted the exit of my car, I found that I could not move my legs. The strength of my feet and legs was tested several times that day, and by early evening, some strength had returned and I was able to resist the testing pressure. I spent the night at Halifax Medical Center and about 8:00 am was escorted for a walk, using a walker. My legs responded to my commands and by the time my escort and I had traversed the length and width of the hallway and back, I was walking without the assistance or aid of the walker. I was released to home about 5:00 pm when my wife and daughter drove me home. I was a little sore and did ache. However, these aches subsided over the next few days.
Late June or early July, 2008,
I have been allergic to cats all my life. Within ten minutes of entering a home with a cat, I would start with itchy eyes and throat, runny nose and sneezing. It was as if I had a full blown cold. I became aware of acupuncture as a possible cure. I must admit I was skeptical but felt it was worth a try. I felt I was sure a candidate for a possible cure.
After 2 treatments, I was headed to my son’s house where Tasker (a cat) resided. Usually before arriving at my son Jim’s house I would start allergy medication and they would keep the cat in the basement during my stay. I always hated taking the allergy medication because it made me feel drowsy and usually wore off a couple hours before I could take another dose.
Still skeptical, I entered Jim’s house and as soon as I sat down Tasker came and sat on my lap. My first instinct was to shoo him off, but I said “well this will be a good test, it will be either a cure or I’ll be a basket case”. Honestly, it was a cure!! I had a wonderful week and enjoyed holding and petting Tasker, something I never could do before.
I was prone to getting migraine headaches at least 1 every 2 to 3 weeks that would last anywhere from 3 to 5 days. This went on for over 20 years with going to every type of doctor and having all kinds of tests run and having taken all kinds of medications, which I am sure have not helped in the rest of my health. When I started coming to Debra Gaffney, I had very poor health, was tired all the time, nervous, not confident in myself, very quiet and just plain out of it. Since I have been getting acupuncture and allergy treatments starting July 14, 1999 from Ms. Gaffney, I have had only 1 migraine which only lasted 1 day and went away with the use of aspirin and laying down for a short nap. I look a lot better and am not as nervous or as tired as I used to be. Also, I have more confidence in myself.
I wanted to truly thank “Rusty” Gaffney and her wonderful staff for diagnosing, treating and getting rid of my allergies. Including many allergies I didn’t even recognize as such.
Every day at work I would get a headache across my forehead and a very runny nose. It always started within 15 minutes of getting there. I knew I must be allergic to something in the store. Turned out it was the ink in the printed paper bags we used at the checkout. Rusty treated me for that and now I don’t have that problem anymore.
With my curiosity aroused about some other minor ailments, I had her do the whole allergy testing series. Lots of allergies, or rather sensitivities, showed up. After being treated for them, I no longer get a stuffy head when I eat ketchup, or get a bloated tummy when I eat red meat, or get shaky when I eat chocolate, or get a stomach ache when I drink milk, etc.! And I am not cold all the time anymore either.
Now that my body is rid of those problems I have more energy during the day, sleep more restful at night and have a better sense of overall well-being. And I thought I didn’t have any allergies! Thank you Rusty from the bottom of my heart.
I cannot thank you enough for taking the time and putting me through the allergy procedure. For the first time, in many years, I was able to attend a weekend of banquets and not worry about getting sick or just not eating. Weeks ago I spent three days in New Orleans; I ate cream sauces, steaks with little fat, food with spices and very rich desserts. What a wonderful time I had and with every bite I said a prayer of thanks for you. It was such a great feeling, I am sorry I waited so long.
It’s unbelievable. I am now almost completely ambulatory without limping. Consider me a real convert to acupuncture.
This is a letter I have been trying to write ever since you cured my severe case of shingles. I wanted you, and everyone else, to know that I was diagnosed with a severe case of shingles. My doctor’s office told me that the doctor could give me something to put on the breakout but that I would probably be suffering for about 8 – 12 weeks with this. I called, booked an appointment and you took me into your office and told me that you could knock the shingles out in 4 days. I started feeling relief the very first day. I had been sleeping in a recliner because the pain and itching were so bad. I can’t believe how quickly and painlessly acupuncture got me back on my feet. WOW!!! Why don’t more people know about this?
Thanks so much Rusty. I’m telling everyone I know about the things you can help with in your office.
Rusty is a God sent miracle worker with her needles and Acuset! I came to Rusty with my immune system completely destroying itself. I couldn’t eat anything without having an allergic reaction that got so bad that I didn’t have to eat to have a reaction – just a small smell of anything would set off a reaction. I couldn’t eat, couldn’t be around anything, anyone, and couldn’t go anywhere. I was living on water only.
My husband didn’t know what to think. At first he thought I didn’t want to go anywhere with him. Then when experiencing a reaction to food, he thought I was going crazy. When noticing a reaction to nothing at all; just a smell of what? He just didn’t know what to think. When sitting in the house and having a reaction, he utterly could not believe it. He would just look at me and say “now what?”
For over 40 years I’ve been highly allergic to penicillin, getting itchy, swollen hives whenever exposed to it. In the past decade I became increasingly allergic to more and more things (the causes unknown to me) causing hives, even in my tongue! Then, this past summer the MD allergist mentioned that my bouts with shortness of breath, which were very scary to me, were probably caused by spasms in the bronchial tubes from an allergy! Later, during one of these episodes, I thought I’d “treat” it with a Benadryl-like antihistamine instead of the inhalers and other, harsher medication. It worked! It stopped the spasm and eased the breathing. In that moment I decided to call for an appointment with Dr. Debra “Rusty” Gaffney, having read her book and knowing someone who she’d treated with the AcuSET 10 years ago. My first testing by Dr. “Rusty” showed “sensitivities” to all 98 items except 4! After 2 1/2 months of treatment I was tested again and out of 317 items the allergies were down to 4 and I was immediately treated for them. The next day I stopped all 3 allergy medications, just keeping a prescription on hand at the request of my allergist. It’s been a month and I’ve felt so much better I walked around outside at an art show AND cooked the entire Thanksgiving dinner (turkey was one of the high sensitivities on the first test!) without any reactions – I certainly had a lot to be thankful for! And I am especially thankful for Dr. Rusty sharing this treatment – and in a most delightful and loving environment! Oh year, I have had only 1 very mild hive when exposed to something new (which I’ll be “treated” for at my next appointment), and no other symptoms, since the AccuSET treatments!
Gratefully, L.A.W. January 7, 2010
Hi, Per your request I am sending you a written request of your acupuncture treatment of my old broken body. I put it in your hands after treating it so bad for the last 70 years.
Recently I have had terrible pain from an arthritic condition I was diagnosed with in the 8th grade. This condition was really aggravated after laying around for over two years recouping from multiple back surgeries. The pain was worse during wet weather conditions and I was ready to move far away from Florida. My daughter, Deborah, was getting good results from your treatment of her allergies and suggested I try it. After some consideration I decided to give it a go. My knowledge of acupuncture was “nada”.
On my initial visit you axed the “moving away from FL” and told me you could fix it. Everything I had heard from your previous results with different patients backed up your fit it claim.
When we started the acupuncture treatment not only was I in pain due to the arthritis but my whole body felt like I had the flu. Come to find out the medication I was taking for cholesterol was the culprit. I made the decision to stop the pill and along with the supplements you supplied the problem went away in about two weeks.
I don’t recall the number of treatments I have had but the results are as follows – lower arthritic back pain is gone. Severe hand pain is now very little. Sagging lower eye lid that was going to cost me big to fix is no longer sagging. All the sensitivities I had on the initial analysis is now cleared. All in all I feel like this was a successful effort on your part plus your charges were more than fair.
Thanks “Rusty”. Regards, T.L.
I have struggled with a lazy bowel since I was 6 years old. I would go two to three days without a bowel movement. In my 30’s it wasn’t unusual to go 3 or 4 days without one. Over the years I went to several doctors and specialists. Initially they tried to convince me it was “normal: To go 2-3 days without a bowel movement. Later, they simply said they couldn’t find anything wrong with me and I needed to improve my diet and increase my exercise.
I tried everything but eventually it got to the point it would be 5, 6, even 7 days before I would have one. No matter what laxatives I took or what I ate. My husband to be (when I finally told him) made an appointment for me with Dr. Rusty which changed my life. Two weeks after I started treatments I was having a BM once a day. I have more energy and overall felt better that I had in years. I recently looked at a picture taken 2 days before my wedding (5 months ago). I was shocked to see how vacant looking my eyes was. Now, I have a sparkle in my eyes and feel wonderful. I have enough energy to enjoy my life and look forward to what is in my future. I am grateful to Dr. Rusty and the care she puts into helping her patients.

After a serious illness in 1999, the best thing that could have ever happen to me was to read an article showcasing Rusty Gaffney and her relatively new practice in the field of Acupuncture. I was against a “brick wall” and was told by a doctor at Shands Hospital in Gainesville that my level of improvement would probably not change significantly. I was sentenced to using a walker and was told that this would be necessary for the rest of my life.
At the time I was 54 and could not subject myself to this. I came to Rusty and have been under her careful guidance and expertise since the fall of 1999. I have up and downs, but now I am just about as healthy as any other 65 year old!! No wheel chair, no walker, and complete control over my daily life. I have NO limitations and take care of my rather large house, garden, etc., without assistance. Thank you Rusty for being the Guardian Angel that brought me to the other side of the “brick Wall”.
Highest regards, M.S., August 2, 2010
In April 2009 I went to a walk in clinic and I was given an antibiotic for a bladder infection. I had a really bad allergic reaction from the antibiotic. I had instant insomnia and after 4 days of not sleeping went to the ER, I was given medications to help me sleep and they sent me home. I got worse and worse and suddenly was not able to eat almost everything.
I was only able to eat boiled meats and steamed veggies with butter. I ate the same six foods every day for months. In three months my weight went from 146 lbs to 119 lbs. I only got out of bed to go to the bathroom. I had to leave my job and my husband has to work from home to take care of me. I couldn’t do anything for myself I was so weak.
In July 2009 after going from doctor to doctor and not getting any help a friend who had been to Dr. Debra Gaffney told me about her. I decided to give her a try. It was a 90 minute drive to see her and I will say it was so worth it. From the very beginning Dr. Gaffney was wonderful, so kind and so compassionate. I have never heard of her treatment, but thought it really made sense. She ran a test to see what my body was sensitive to and we found out my body was sensitive to everything, so that is why I feel like I was at deaths door.
Well after the very first treatment I felt almost like my old self. I was absolutely amazed and so was my family. I continued on with all the treatment and found I was getting better and better. I was up and out of bed and I was eating more and more foods every day. I was able to go off the medication for sleep and finally get to sleep on my own. Today I weigh 138 lbs and I can say I am thrilled to have my life back. I will never forget Dr. Gaffney. She is my angle and there is not a day that goes by that I don’t appreciate the day I met her.
Because my friend “C” had amazing results with Rusty Gaffney’s Acupuncture treatments she suggested I might benefit from them. I was having painful arthritis symptoms in my hands. I also had several lung problems but did not think Acupuncture could help. I was wrong. The treatments helped relieve the pain in my hands but sometimes I would come to my appointment very short of breath. After Rusty’s treatments I would be breathing normally again. Rusty is concerned about the whole body – not just your problem at hand.

I am now 77 and developed allergies in the late 1980’s after living in Florida for about 7 years. In 1996, I had surgery for a deviated septum & sinus. Later I then started having heavy mucous and chronic sinusitis infections 2-3 times a year which required antibiotic treatment. Through the years I sought help from various ENT specialists, tried a variety of prescriptions, nasal sprays, allergy pills, etc., but the problems remained and I was told there was nothing more that could be done. I was miserable constantly and felt the antibiotics I would be required to take to clear the sinusitis could be detrimental to my health. At my wife’s urging, I decided to see Dr. Rusty to try the AcuSET / Acupuncture treatment. After 9 of the 12 treatments, I am off the prescribed medicines and my mucous problem has significantly improved. I am hoping the improvement continues and the chronic sinusitis infections & mucous will be a thing of the past.
My daily life has been severely affected over the past 3 years by recurring bouts of either diverticulitis or irritable bowel syndrome, with occasional severe painful episodes. I had continual problems with nausea, bloating, cramps, fullness and some diarrhea. Regular medical advice was Metamucil and “watch what you eat”. I was discouraged about getting better and have a normal daily routine. Following Dr. Gaffney’s acupuncture and desensitization treatments, I have had no episodes of irritable bowel and no other gastrointestinal problems. I eat a regular diet. Such a relief. My outlook is now very positive and my life has returned to normal. I can plan things without worry or waiting to see how I might feel on any particular day. I would like to thank my daughter who referred me to Dr. Gaffney’s care.

Due to a brain aneurysm in March of 1990 my left side and hand have been paralyzed. I began coming in to see Debra (Rusty) Gaffney A.P. in April this year for low back pain, sinus problems, paralysis and pain from spinal stenosis. Approximately 3 weeks ago I asked Rusty if she could help my left hand to open and she said she would work on it along with my regular treatments. A miracle occurred for me the other day as my hand became uncurled. I am so grateful and find myself wanting to share this good news with everyone!
Bless you and thank you! C.C., May 2, 2011
I waited so long since my return from Belgium to inform you – to my greatest pleasure – about my “allergies with dogs”.
Just before leaving for Belgium last June, you treated me one more time for this problem I’m living with almost my entire life: “Staying away from dogs” to avoid asthma attacks and puffy eyes, a real misery.
Well, this time: to my astonishment I didn’t get any negative reaction, moreover – I forgot my Zyrtec – and didn’t take anything.
My two daughters over there have both dogs and cats, well, I pet them, played with them – UNBELIEVABLE! My daughters couldn’t believe their eyes, the first time they could keep their dogs inside, in the same room as me. And, one of the little dogs became my beloved pet and friend with whom I Skype every week.
This story to say: THANK YOU, because for years now, you tried to help and something wouldn’t let go, until your last treatment in June2011; date to remember!
I feel so much better, more secure to go visiting friends with dogs. The bottom line: never give up, and it will happen! It did.
Merci beaucoup, Rusty you are a wonderful healer. Nicole Dumond, September 18, 2011
Dear Dr. Rusty,
I just had to write to you, while my computer is working to let you know how much better I am getting since I started my treatments in May.
It is not even the end of June and I am able to go to go to DeLand, do the treatments, and then after detoxing somewhat every time, I have the energy to clean, do some grocery shopping, even going somewhere with friends. This is after not being able to do the same for some time. All I did was get sicker and sicker.
I cannot wait to see what I am going to be able to do when I am finished with my treatments and detoxing from all those meds I took for my Lupus symptoms which did not work for me.
Since I came to you in May, I was able to attend some classes already and I am babysitting this week which I would not have been able to do before.
Blessings! Keep up the good work! Renee M., Daytona Beach, June, 2012
I was not a strong believer in nutritional practices but I am now. I recommend anyone to try this nutritional program and see the results happen right before your eyes. I am thankful for everything you have done for me.
Sincerely, Elena N.
I am writing this letter to express my gratitude for the nutritional treatment that was provided to me. I began treatment in September 2011; I had severe hypoglycemia and continuously had dizzy spells daily. This condition made me very frustrated and working/exercising was nearly impossible due to my hourly blood sugar spikes. In fact, I contacted 3 internal medical doctors, but no one was familiar with my condition and I was running out of options. Until I met Dr. Gaffney and immediately she asked me to take a nutritional assessment. When you tested me and I began taking supplements, I was doubtful that this would work for me. After a few weeks of following your healthy eating plan I began to notice a difference. The blood sugar spikes had drastically been reduced and my energy level was higher than before.
You have made me better. I think it’s the magic wand. I don’t cough much anymore, I hardly use my inhaler or nebulizer. Please make my Mom and Sister better. I am doing great in gymnastics.
Thanks so much.
M.S., Age 6
I am a professional educator and have worked for Volusia County Schools for over twenty years. This past year, my health became a serious concern. I was sick all the time with respiratory symptoms and had little energy. Since I refuse to take antibiotics and cortisone, I couldn’t very well turn to traditional medicine for help.
I turned to Dr. John Gaffney and his wife Rusty for help. Together, they have changed my life. I can now turn my head from side to side thanks to “Doc” and I walk and feel structurally much better. Thanks to Rusty and NAET treatments, I no longer suffer from allergies that were seeming to take over my life before. I have much more energy and I have not had one respiratory infection or even a cold this fall. I don’t see how anyone can argue with success. I am living proof that NAET works and that Rusty’s treatments are totally effective.
I feel confident in both of the Gaffney’s and recommend their care to anyone who needs it.
Dear Debra (Doc Rusty) Gaffney,
Thank you for restoring me, a 79+ lady to good health.
Before my first visit with you in February 2006 I was treated by 6 Doctors and Specialists for 15 months. In that period of time I had 12 medical procedures, blood work and prescriptions for arm and leg pain and a serious sleep problem. All the tests were negative and I was told there was nothing wrong with me.
On my first visit for a consultation I could hardly walk, I had no energy or strength and could not think clearly. In fact I couldn’t fill out your Medical Information Forms. You and your staff were so kind and understanding. The first thing you said to me was that I was a very sick lady and my biggest problem was allergies.
After 3 weeks of treatment there was a big improvement in my sleep, my energy level, strength and alertness was completely restored; the arm pain completely gone. The pain in my legs due to a muscle problem caused by Cholesterol medicine took a little longer, but now I no longer use a cane and can once again exercise on the treadmill and other equipment.
Doc Rusty also tested me for my allergy problem and treated me for many things I was sensitive to. These treatments were very successful. I can now come in contact with strong perfume, smoke and other allergens and they no longer make me cough or affect my asthma.
Doc Rusty gave me 1 treatment for Rheumatoid Arthritis in 2 fingers about 2 weeks ago and I have not had a reoccurrence of pain.
I am now on a Maintenance Schedule and enjoying good health, something I had not experienced for many years.
Again, a big “Thank You” Rusty; your Acupuncture treatments have given me new life. All my friends, family and even some Doctors notice the big change.
Forever Grateful, Hazel Brown
“Dedicated to Those Who Wish To Feel Better and Have A Better Quality of Life”
It has been a good 14 years since I began rolling down the rolling down the path of pain/ Back in 1995 I was sent to a rheumatologist, whom diagnosis me with Fibromyalgia. This was during the time when very little was known about it. I surfed the Internet looking for help and support from other individuals who were in the in the same stage of the disease progression as I was. After many months and thousands of dollars later I felt like giving up. My pain was more severe than it ever had been I continued to visit many different specialists in search of relief. They only managed to prescribe anti-inflammatories, steroids, antidepressants, vitamin B-12 injections, but nothing seemed to help. The bottom line was I was just not getting any better; I was just getting worse. I was told, “You are allergic to practically everything.” I was told to eliminate the products listed on my card from my diet. This was impossible for me to do. After subjecting myself to numerous doctors, I decided I would try a local chiropractor for my aches and pains. I even tried a few sessions of acupuncture, but the doctors were not paying attention or interested in my problems. The pain, stress and depression continued to set in even deeper to the point I was unable to function. I wasn’t myself anymore, I suffered from my facial pain, headaches, neck aches, restless legs, muscle spasms, no energy, bloating and cramping. If you could name it I was suffering from it.
After everything, my husband and I decided we needed a change in pace. We decided to move and relocate our family and our business to Central Florida in August of 2005. Upon arrival in Central Florida my symptoms worsened. I continued with my issues and kept going to my general physician. I was diagnosed with h-pylori bacteria. I was treated for two months, but I continued showing al the symptoms: stomach aches, bloating, cramping, sleepiness, excessive hunger, severe backaches, headaches, numbness in my hands and arms, and facial pain. Just about anything you could think of was happening. My description was even stronger now. I had to find someone who could help me. In October 2005 I opened my insurance provider’s book and decided to give chiropractic treatment another chance to fix my aching back. For some unknown reason I was drawn to Dr. Gaffney’s name. I called and scheduled with him right away. After meeting with him, I immediately began treatment. Doc was God Sent. My back was so much better, my headaches were less, and my neck did not ache 24/7 anymore. It was a miracle. Halfway through my treatment schedule I mentioned to Doc that I was still having problems with my stomach, numbness in my face, shortness of breath, facial pain, and intolerance to food. I practically could not eat anything, be in the bright sun, or go anywhere that had a lot of smoke or dust. Every time I ate, I was forced to take a two-hour nap just to recover. No matter how long I napped I was still exhausted. Doc kept insisting that I see Rusty. Eventually in July 2006 I finally listened to him. I could not bear to feel this way anymore even though my back was much better. My hands and arms were no longer numb, my headaches were diminishing, but my overall well ness was still not in sync, I was at my wits end.
At my first meeting with Rusty, she immediately noticed. I did not have to say anything. She read my face, my eyes and my aura. Rusty immediately had me fill out a questionnaire and she ran a sensitivity test. She told me, I was one of the worst individuals that she has ever seen. My journey to recovery finally began. Treatment started immediately. I was seeing her three times weekly for sensitivity treatment. I also used a Detox kit for approximately three months. I took AcuSet, sometimes for the redness in my eyes, and several vitamins daily. The first time I took the vitamins I could not believe the feeling that passed over me. I was so energetic, so full of life; it was like my quest for health was finally coming to an end. My initial treatments are now over and I am in my maintenance stage of my treatment. My outlook now is nothing but positive. I believe that I was sent to Central Florida to find my ANGLES. Both Dr. Gaffney and Rusty have been “my angels”. There are no words or feelings to describe my appreciation and gratefulness to those two individuals. My appreciation for their knowledge and charisma is immeasurable. I can only be an advocate to others whom are in the same situation. Dr. Gaffney and Rusty, again THANK YOU FOR GIVING ME BACK MY LIFE!
Yours truly, Mrs. C., June, 2009
I moved to Florida from Ohio in 1995. Soon after arriving here, I developed what I thought was a cold, but the cough lingered on calling for a visit to my doctor. I was told I had allergies and was ordered Claritin with no success. I was then tested by an allergist and placed on Allegra still no success. I was then placed on Zyrtec. The cough continued in spite of clear, negative chest X-rays.
At work my co-workers kept saying that cough sound good, Respiratory Therapists said I sounded like I needed a breathing treatment, and my husband could not hear the TV because of my coughing.
I was desperate for relief of the cough. Then one day a friend told me she didn’t cough anymore and referred me to Debra Gaffney.
I called Debra Gaffney and my first appointment was May 12, 2004 it is now June 29, 2004 my cough started decreasing from the first visit.
Today I played 18 holes of golf with not one coughing episode. The side benefits of acupuncture are also great.
My days of buying allergy medicines are gone-with acupuncture by Debra Gaffney I don’t need them.
Dr. Debra Gaffney is one of the finest people that I’ve ever known. She’s kind, loving and caring. Until I met her and was treated by her, I knew nothing but pain, itching and desperation.
I have a severe case of eczema mostly located on my hands and fingers. This condition has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. Since I was a child, I remember going to skin specialist after skin specialist only to get shots, ointments, creams, steroids both oral and creams. Most recently in September 2002 one day at work I couldn’t complete any of my administrative tasks. I thought I was going crazy with pain and itching. The skin was very thin, itchy, cracked, bleeding and swollen beyond belief. I couldn’t brush my teeth or hair. It hurt to touch anything; difficult to even wash my body or get dressed. Driving and holding the steering wheel was a real task and now that I really think about it I can’t believe I put myself and others at a safety risk driving on the road. I could not go to the grocery or department stores that I didn’t itch or swell up. Holding or watching my beautiful 3 granddaughters was out of the question. I didn’t want to be near my three grown daughters or husband for that matter. All I could think about was the pain and itching. I was embarrassed even with my own family that I couldn’t control the situation and all I wanted to do was cry or scream. After several acupuncture treatments, some Chinese herbal supplements and conventional antibiotics prescribed by my family physician, relief came. I no longer use steroids in any form of cortisone prescription or over the counter creams. I’ve resumed living, working in my home and profession and just about everything. I still have skin breakouts from time to time but nowhere near what they were. I wish I had pictures to show you the difference.
Thank you, Debra Gaffney Love You, K.A.
TESTIMONIAL FROM 6-YEAR PATIENTS
In counting my blessing today, one came to mind that I feel you should know about; that of having you in my life. My return to health over the past couple of years you’ve been treating me has been truly a blessing—especially after M.D. after M.D. and test upon test gave only temporary relief, but no solution, to the underlying problems of my “for years” always-irritable GI tract and recurring bronchitis.
The answer I’d needed was finding with you. Your knowledge, talent and caring have worked wonders and I am grateful. Thank you for being my healing and caring physician and friend. And thanks also for having a staff that complements your work in so many ways.
I can’t thank you enough! Enclosed are some post cards showing our area, I thought you’d enjoy seeing what it looks like here. God bless all of you. See you in October!
In appreciation, M.K.
We plan to return in October to Barb’s, at which time I’d like to come on for further testing and treatment, and Jim may be able to do the same. I’ll let you know when we would like to arrive and will look forward to getting Jim analyzed at that time. I haven’t tried chocolate or wine, but I will get up the courage one of these days soon! It’s just SO-O-O nice not to ache or hurt anywhere!
I’ve had company ever since I arrived home from Florida, so this letter is long in coming. But, I’ve been eager to tell you how incredibly good I feel and the notice by others, especially from my family that has been given regarding how different I look and act! The BEST part of all this is the complete absence of headaches I have put away the Imitrex! That alone was worth the time and cost, but I have the pleasure of more energy, stamina and “sparkle”, as some have put it. People here wish that they, too, could avail themselves of this treatment after seeing my results. Even my husband and daughters are seriously considering a visit to Aunt Barb to take their turn! I have a friend locally who has studied herbology and muscle testing, etc. She is very interested in studying this method of acupuncture. I have turned over to her Ann Cutler’s book and the materials I brought home from your office to read. She intends, if she hasn’t already done so, to contact Dr. Cutler and find out how she can proceed. This would be a godsend to have a practitioner right here for the man who is interested.
PATIENT TESTIMONIAL ON ACUPUNCTURE
For more than 25 years, I have been walking straight and have eluded any form of surgery due to the treatments and adjustments provided by Dr. Gaffney. That alone has been a gift that I am thankful for every day. And, as if that wasn’t enough, he found a wonderful wife who multiplied his gifts to so many.
For years, I have been dealing with allergy problems and had resigned myself to living with them always. When I heard that Rusty had a new and highly effective treatment for allergies, I signed up.
Acupuncture is a subtle science…the improvements unfold quietly. Even now, weeks after my last treatment, at times I will suddenly realize that something that once bothered me, doesn’t anymore. I am also amazed at how much better I feel, overall, than I have in years.
I could go on and on, but will sum up my feeling this way… Dr. Gaffney and Rusty are very special and gifted caregivers. Not only are they highly skilled, they are highly involved in their patient’s total health and happiness. Their knowledge is large and so is their heart.
Yes, the community is very blessed to have these two special people…they have brought much comfort and support to my life and to the lives of many others.
A TESTMONIAL TO DR. DEBRA GAFFNEY AND HER ACUPUNTURE MEDICINE:
About 2 and half to 3 years ago I lost the use of my right hand. I couldn’t pick up a cup or glass in my right hand. I had a hard time writing and walking any distance. If I tried to walk for very long my right hip would give out and then it would be a great effort to get back to where I started. I have been going to a chiropractor for many years as I have had several injuries of one kind or another and have severe arthritis throughout my body. With the help of the chiropractic treatments and determination I could act like a normal person. I go for treatments once a month and had complained about my hand but nothing seemed to help. The pain at night, because I wouldn’t give up and not try to use my hand, was so bad it would wake me out of a sound sleep. My daughter goes to an orthopedic for her injury that she received years ago and she told him of some of my problems. Knowing I had arthritis, he recommended that I get Osteo-Bi-Flex and take as directed on the bottle. Well, I started taking this product and within four weeks I could walk without the right hip giving out. I was very pleased. I could go shopping and didn’t have to stop because I was in pain. My hand didn’t seem to be getting any better though. Well, on December 5, 2000, my brother got an appointment for an acupuncture treatment. This doctor was treating my arthritis with the acupuncture treatments. On December 27, 2000, she noticed a difference in my hands and fingers. With the treatments and natural herbs I used, I can now use my right hand and am writing also. I can also hang cloths again with less stress. It seems great. This all took place after only seven treatments. She was amazed and very pleased. I’m glad I decided to try this, as I’m not a person who likes needles. Take it from me; take a chance on the advice of a good doctor or therapist and it may help you. I’ll always be on a joint complex medication but who cares. The hand still aches some especially when I use it a lot. It is getting better each day. I wrote all this on paper before I typed it and I could read my writing to the end. This is something I haven’t done in two years.
Thank God for your dusty boots on this earth. You preceded yourself in the testament of my Dad, who had had treatment by you using the NAET program. He had told me of his success and I had just about reached my limit on this old planet, chronic sinus infection (not ending after two surgeries), spiking blood pressure, headaches, chronic stomach distress and intestinal chaos. Life had moved way fast, pressure was an everyday experience. Trauma, of some sort, daily venture, I just didn’t know where to turn next; all I was getting from the medical community was treatment for symptoms.
When I knew I had some days off, my Dad set up an appointment for me the day after arriving from Spokane, WA we came in to see you. The testing verified that I was consumed with chronic hidden allergies; in fact you made a statement that I had more allergies than anyone you had treated so far. We began an expedited treatment plan over the duration of the time I was going to be in DeLand, twice a day, with a very overlapped schedule. It was soon apparent, there would be no “shop till you drop” time or meals out. The dietary restriction with an overlap schedule was a testament in patience, and sometimes a mind boggler, (would make a wonderful computer game), but thanks to the perseverance of my Dad double checking, what I could have, we climb the Mt. Everest of allergens and with a body so tired it required sometimes two naps a day, we passed test after test, sometimes repeating an item or two but for the most part, put to rest all of those nasty allergens that were robbing me of a life. Seven days later, every one of them showed between 8-11. Those may still settle down. For a beginning point of most items out of 77, running a gambit up to 22, I was amazed, and pleased. Each day I felt better, had more energy, could actually eat without a very severe stomach upset within 20 minutes, or running for the “little people’s room”. I can tell you, I am one Happy Camper!! I can’t wait to tell others about this program. I only wish you were closer, Rusty, I would love for you to be getting all the business. You have been a lifesaver!!!
Thank You for Quality Life, G.C.
I have just finished the basic allergy elimination with Rusty and would like to share a little of my experience. To start off with, I have been on anti-depressants for almost 2 years now. I used to have extremely bad allergy problems until I started being treated by Rusty Gaffney. I was to a point where almost everything was bothering my allergies. I have had pneumonia, bronchitis, and sinus infections many times. I also had sinus surgery to remove polyps in my sinuses in January 2001. Although the surgery helped tremendously, I still had severe allergies and they were getting worse. Before I had surgery, I had forgotten what it was like to breath normally. I was feeling extremely tired all of the time and was unable to stay working for the past 7 years. I went for allergy skin tests in November 2001. I almost went into shock from the skin test because my reaction was so bad. I have gone through several, if not almost all, prescription allergy medications. The last one I was taking Allegra 180 mg., worked ok for a while but also began to stop working. Every time I would find a medication that helped my allergies, I would begin to get immune to the medication and it would no longer help me. I was going to start allergy shots, but on the day I was going to start the shots I was again feeling lightheaded which was very common for me due to my allergies (allergic rhinitis). The doctor did not want to chance my reaction and told me to come to start when I was feeling better. I didn’t really want to do the shots, but my insurance would pay for it and they wouldn’t pay for acupuncture. I decided I couldn’t take it any longer and called to make an appointment with Rusty. In the first few visits I could tell a tremendous difference. Not only did she help with my chronic sinus trouble, but her performance of the acupuncture also helped my emotional well-being (depression), energy levels, sex drive, constipation, and most important of all immune problems. Many times my sinus trouble would lead to bronchitis and infections. I was also tired all of the time, from my body fighting off viruses or allergy problems. I used to not be able to be outside for very long (especially Nov. – April). I would be outside for 10 minutes and my nose would clog up. Now, since Rusty helped me, I have spent several hours outside with no problem. Just that by itself is a major accomplishment. I have also been working full time in a very stressful job since September 2001 and I have not even felt like quitting once. I did get sick once or twice before I began acupuncture though. I can even tell that my body is fighting off something right now. Four people in my office currently have the Flu. I am usually the first person to catch anything going around me. I have only been having extremely mild cold symptoms for two days now. It’s not going to catch me this time!!!
I even had high sensitivity to some foods. I had no clue that I had this problem until Rusty tested me. I started paying more attention and noticed that my sinuses were mostly clear (not swollen) before I ate certain foods (chicken/bread especially). After I ate these things, my nose would swell up and almost closed. After I was desensitized to eggs and chicken I haven’t had the problem since. Same situation goes for chocolate.
I have been so amazed with my progress, that my 5-year old son is now seeing Rusty for his allergies. I hope that by getting him treated early in life that he will grow up without the problems that I had as a child. I am currently even trying to get my sister in KY to come down and get treated. Her depression and allergies are probably twice or three times as bad as mine were!
I have been used to being ill and/or with allergy problems for so long that I have to keep correcting myself when talking to friends about things like playing outside with my son, peoples perfume bothering me and many other things. Oh that’s right, I can do that now!!! I don’t have that allergy problem anymore!
Thank you so much for everything you’ve done, I was afraid at first but you helped me not to be so afraid. Thank you! I hope you enjoy the gift. It could go with all the other decorations in your office.
Dear Dr. Rusty,
Thank you so much for the excellent care you’ve taken of Steven. Your kindness and gentleness are unmatched! It’s been amazing to see that frightened boy who first came to you change to a more relaxed and confident young man.
I definitely have seen an improvement in Steven’s immune system. By this time of year he’s usually had at least two major colds/infections which only went away with antibiotics. I am happy to report that he has not even had one cold or even needed his Zyrtec since his first treatment. What an accomplishment!
I look forward to more improvements in the future as well. Thank you, thank you!
I am grateful for Dr. Rusty’s insight, understanding and compassion.
I cherish the rapport and unwavering commitment to me in my quest for alternative treatments.
Multiple Sclerosis creates many mental and physical challenges in my life. The relationship Dr. Rusty fosters heals more than the disease; it heals my soul.
Dear Dr. Rusty,
Having Rheumatoid Arthritis for ten years, with frequent flair-ups that ended up with severe pain and swelling, multiple medicines along with steroids I had felt that there was no hope to lead a normal life.
Within two hours of my first session of acupuncture the pain throughout my body had subsided. For the first time in a few years I had hope to lead a normal and healthy life. With every treatment for my food allergies I see a considerable difference in the way I feel. Life is great!! Thank you for caring.
Please excuse this mode of communicating with you however my equipment needs repair. It’s rare to be afforded the opportunity of expressing gratitude for a kind and helpful service.
Recently, you reported the success you had undergoing acupuncture. Previous to your report I had the typical mad–on-the-street questions regarding the idea of a bunch of needles helping me health wise.
You helped me so, so much! And it is holding!! The largest improvement is regarding the fatigue and hurt all over all the time. My energy is back, now that everything I was eating and touching is no longer adversely affecting me. This is huge! I will be coming to see you very soon for ‘upkeep’ and we can catch up on person then. I recommend you all the time (you can lead a horse to water you know!) and am still planning on a special meeting. Part of my healing time, was to actually take time, for myself for a while. So aside from caring for family members and the occasional Reiki attunement, work a Life Basics, for the first time ever.
I am a survivor of a 103 SURGICAL PROCEEDURES, many of them due to a rare, neurological and very painful disease. The most success I have had trying to reduce the level of pain to a bearable amount has been with acupuncture. I am mow able to sleep more hours per night and am thankful to Dr. Debra Gaffney and her expertise. For me, acupuncture works. Anonymous
I came to see Rusty if acupuncture could help me overcome my symptoms of post-polio syndrome. My biggest complains were overwhelming fatigue and stress as well as loss of muscle strength. Generally, I just did not have a sense of well-being. After a couple treatments there was a big improvement in the fatigue and soon improvement with the stress also. I started doing motion exercises and was surprised to see the return of enough muscle strength that I can now transfer from my wheelchair into bed and back into my wheelchair by myself, which I hadn’t been able to do for the last 7 years.
During this last year, I had started wearing a back support because there were days when I could hardly sit up. My worst fear were that I would have to have surgery to implant a steel rod in my back to enable me to sit up, but I have been able to get enough muscle strength back that I don’t even need to wear the back support now.
Rusty suggested that I take the sensitivity computer test, which showed sensitive to my number of substances. She is treating those sensitivities to complete her concern for my total health.
While I still have an occasional problem with stress, Rusty has started me on supplements that I believe will be of further help. I am grateful for holistic approach Rusty takes to the physical and emotional health of her patients. I look forward to seeing even more positive results from the use of the supplements she prescribed and continued exercise. L.K.
This letter is long overdue but better late than never. I would like to write our story so you can share it with others as a testimony of how much your methods work.
Miguel who was 5 when we started had severe food allergies. He was born 5 weeks early. He had a lot of respiratory complications and had to spend 9 days in the NICU. Through his first year, he slept 18-20 hours a day. He just couldn’t get enough oxygen and was exhausted all the time. He had many colds, which would turn into Pneumonia, Bronchitis or Brinquialitis. We spent many days at the doctor’s office and in the hospital.
When I first walked in, I was a little scared. I started to relax as Mrs. Gaffney talked to me. Besides, I have seen this procedure done hundreds of times. I have heard from many that it was effective and felt no pain.
She sat me down and had me answer a whole bunch of questions. I was receiving acupuncture “for my migraine headaches. I get them every day,” I told her. Some of the questions she asked me were, “what kinds of food do you eat?” How do you feel right now?” she added.
When I started going to Rusty I already had a herniated disc and a pinched sciatic nerve from an injury in 1990. I was able to get myself out of my pain & depression on my own by coming up with my own pain management routine. For several years it was necessary for me to be home caring for our youngest son Devon, who has special needs, but finally in September of 2002 I was able to go back to work part-time. I really enjoy my job, but after 8 months in May of 2003, I had an accident at work and I lost everything good I’d gained at my new job. After finally making new friends, getting back my self-esteem and a good attitude about life, it was gone.
I would like to thank you for all your time. You helped me a lot with my senior project. I’m glad to choose you to be my mentor because I do not think any other place would have been so fund and understanding. I also have to say you are one of the nicest people I know. So, I would like to thank you once more for all that you have done for me.
Thank You so much! C.N.
Like so many others who suffer from fibromyalgia, I have searched for help via every avenue offered throughout conventional Western medicine. Searching and researching, in hopes to obtaining relief from the chronic and oftentimes debilitating symptoms, I heard about the services provided by Debra Pardee Gaffney, whom her associates, friends, other clients and I refer to as Rusty. At that time I was dysfunctional, depressed and drugged.
As you know my daughter and I haven’t been able to eat many, many foods, due to food allergies, for the past 5 years. We no longer ate out, as it was such a chore to find food we could eat. After going through your acupuncture process for food allergies, life is wonderful! We can eat everything! God Bless and Thank You.
Sincerely, ~E.M. P. S. There is one drawback, we’re gaining weight!
G has had health issues from the time he was born, starting with his first ear infection at only 3 days old. He had had over 30 rounds of antibiotics before he went to preschool! He has since had 7 sets of ear tubes, his adenoids taken out twice his tonsils taken out, sleep issues, asthma, digestion issues and severe allergies, in which we dealt with on a daily basis at times.
About a year and a half ago, G could not function like a normal 9 year old, he was vomiting all of the time, could not eat yet was bloating and gaining weight and had severe abdominal pain. We went to so many emergency rooms they knew him by name! We finally got a specialist to agree to scope him in both ends, although she thought it was not necessary. After going into surgery, the colonoscopy showed several ulcers in his intestines along with allergic colitis and his esophagus was closed almost completely due to a condition known as Eosinophilic Esophagitus, or EoE. They then ran several blood tests and found he was allergic to at least 38+ foods including wheat, gluten, rice, potatoes, many fruits and vegetables even seasonings.
